Options Odes

2nd February 2005

I must apologise this week for the fact that ‘Options Odes’ will be slightly curtailed, as we have had a mass clamour for Wonka Bars this month, Willy has been working us Oompah Loompah’s (notice correct spelling Skipper!!) very hard and I was unable to ride last night, so as long as the Captain can be bothered to write his report on time this week, you will be able to keep up to date with his account of the ride.

What I did manage to gather from last nights proceedings was that ‘Stuntman’ Steve Hart orchestrated a magnificent ride of which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. There were a few others who couldn’t ride last night, Bernaard and Dickie are currently on a skiing holiday, which has made Chrissy terribly jealous, although he did feel a little better after Dickie had phoned home to say that part of the ski resort had been overrun by an avalanche, apparently whilst trying to negotiate the nursery slope Bernaard slipped, and with an almighty thud his backside hit the ground and the resultant avalanche has caused chaos!! Dez has still to make an appearance this year, using the excuse that his new lights are not working; Jock said he was going to go round his house this week just to make sure that he has actually been turning the charger on!! Marty has been away working on ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ this week, Crock has ‘tapped’ Marty up to try and get him on the show, the only problem is you actually have to have some friends to be able to ring! Dai the Shop was also absent last night, fuelling rumours that he has indeed gone ‘through the hoop’!!

When Ryan the Steam and I finally met up with the boys, they were safely encamped at HQ. Tom had already gone home, and so had Jim and Nick. Jim was very keen to get home quickly so that he could clean and give his new machine a good buffing, new bike syndrome obviously hasn’t worn off yet, and Nick had to dash off to catch his flight to Paris, in order to meet up with his charges in preparation for the visit of Scotland to the Stade de France on Saturday!!

Lyn ‘The Landlady’ and Chris the Chef excelled in the refreshment department this week by laying on a wonderful meal of hot dogs, onion rings and chips of which everyone apart from Crock appreciated. Crock’s reasoning was, as he put it “Oi Lyn, if you have gone to this much trouble to make this, you may as well chuck a few steaks in as well” Crock will be up before committee next week to explain his rude outbursts!! It was also a welcome return last night for that single cogged favourite Jeff ‘Singlespeed’ Wherlock. Jeff has been absent since the awards night, but as he explained both he and Johnny Mechanic have been Stateside for a couple of weeks working on the All New Muppet Show!

Finally as you have probably noticed, since meeting the GLC last week, the Celeb picture gallery has grown in size this week, this is due to the fact that Marty and I have been working on Celebrity Late Night Poker, but special thanks must indeed go to Mr John James, who has been schmoozing with the stars in his own inimitable way, and has ‘gently’ persuaded them to pose with a Moos jersey, so I think that we at least owe him a couple of pints, just for the fact that he managed to ‘tame’ Johnny Vegas and get a jersey on him!!
