4th January 2006

On behalf of all the Moos I would like to say a happy new year to all the avid followers of the Miggly Moos and also to apologise for the lack of Captain’s reports and odes the last couple of months, so perhaps with a new year and a new Captain, normal service will be resumed.

There have also been a few changes within the Moos towards the end of last year, with new members joining, and old members falling by the wayside. Most notable additions include Kev ‘the plane’ Holder, Owen ‘Strawberry’ Richards and of course our ex-pat Moo Geoff ‘OBE, nik-nak’ Davies.

Most notable absentees include Dez, who has been brushing up on his vocabulary by reading his Concise Oxford English Dictionary, after months of reading he is currently studying the definition of aardvark, he has told me that he is hoping to reach his favourite word, ‘balloon’ by next Christmas! Kev ‘Harold Bishop’ Morgan is another who has seemingly given up on the Moos, although he did make a welcome appearance on the annual Christmas Santa ride, Kev blames his business commitments with Lou Carpenter and the return of his long lost son-in-law Joe Mangle as reasons for not having time to ride with the Moos.

But apart from the comings and goings the main personnel has remained the same, of course with a new year starting, this heralds a new tenure for someone as Captain, and for 2006, our very own tea drinking expert Ryan the Steam was unanimously voted in as the new Captain, all the very best to him for the forthcoming year, I’m sure that ex-Captains Owgie and Scrippsy will be able to offer him some valuable advice on how to manage his flock!

Also towards the end of the year some of the Moos were struck down with illness and injury, Chrissy was laid low for months with glandular fever, Scrippsy was out for a few weeks because he thought he had pulled his hamstring, when in fact it was just the elastic band that holds his Colostomy bag to his waist snapping!! And most recently Bernaard has been up on blocks after injuring his knee playing rugby, but apart from these isolated incidents the Moos start the year in pretty good shape.

The past few weeks have also seen the annual Moos award ceremony being held, the winners of the awards can be seen in the ‘Moos Awards’ section of the site. There is also a new league table in this section, in which every Moo had to show his prowess and skill at downing a pint of Guinness, as you’ll see Jimmy Mac and the Captain have a drinking problem as it takes them less time to down a pint than a Formula 1 car does for 0-100mph. And poor old Bernaard only just managed to beat Scrippsy’s best time of walking up his stairs!!

There are also a lot of updated photos from both the Santa Ride and the Awards night posted on the photo section.

Also for the third time in a year the Moos have moved headquarters and are now based at the Tradesman’s Arms, where we have been given a warm welcome, along with enough food to feed an army. So thank you very much Graham and Sian, but Marty would like a few pieces of bread which are not buttered, and Beaker Wherlock would prefer Heinz Tommy K instead of Daddies Tommy K, and while you’re at it can you please mash up some chips and sausages so that Scrippsy can enjoy the food as well?!!

Steve Hart has also come up trumps again, for those of you who don’t know, Harty has been the inspiration behind many of the Moo look-alikes, and he has again submitted another blinder, keep up the good work Steve!!
