Because of the Clic24 hour preparations, a short report this week I’m afraid.

Dickie led 15 riders, on his now familiar opening section up Turner’s lane, accompanied by moans from many, especially ‘The Mechanic’ Johnny Wright who graced us with his presence for the first time for a while. Johnny’s alternative training regime for the Clic24 was unconventional to say the least! One ride in three months is not exactly the Lance Armstrong way.

The ride skirted the coal tips in Trethomas / Bedwas and headed towards the zig-zagged descent to Bedwas Cwm.

The ride was interrupted at Van Road dirt jumps (where the ever gnarly Crock gave some advice to Caerphilly’s young radical dudes!) by ‘The Mechanic’ having a ‘Mechanical’. Johnny’s chain was quickly put back together, under the master’s watchful eye of course, by Harty, and we were off again heading towards Rudry Common.
It was here that one rider underlined his crashing propensities, as again Chrissie ‘Kneivel’ Watkins, showed us that for sheer regularity alone he must be a major contender for this years crasher of the year award, as again his newly framed steed flew through the air, as he tumbled repeatedly through the ferns.
Not to be outdone, Harty keeping the pressure up after his previous weeks tumble, tried the same technique, with similar consequences!

Gaz (arriving late for once!) joined us at the Maenllwydd, arriving just prior to the lads from MTB-Wales.
Dickie Watkins showing good form for the Clic 24 hour event this coming weekend won the race back into Machen.

I hope the Moos behave in the appropriate manner at the Clic24 Hour.
