Kev’s Wet Ride In what we can call probably the wettest ride of the year a good turn out of over 20 riders assembled at the Legion and it was here that 2 new riders were welcomed to the herd. The ride started with the ascent of Turners Lane and one of the new boys proved you cant judge a book by its cover by running out of steam at the arches. He then proceeded to the Forge for re-fuelling whilst the rest of us continued to climb as the rain lashed down. From the top of Turners, it was into the cover of the Sirhowy Forestry and on to a downhill section which is great in the summer but proved a little difficult in the wet conditions. Surprisingly, all moos made it safely down in one piece and as Crock kept on whingeing about how many pub stops we were going to have many other moos were commenting on how good my choice of ride wasn’t. From the bottom of Sirhowy it was back to the top of the forestry via the steps and it was here the other new boy Simon got lost only to be found again as we headed back over the mountain towards Machen. As the rain came down, it was decided to go straight back to head quarters for refreshments. A few Nancy Moos decided to go home and shower and change before going to the T.A. ... Shame on you! Suffer in your wet clothes like the rest of us and spare a thought for Mr Scripps whose in wet clothes 24/7. Next weeks ride is going to be taken by Mad Daf (Road tyres optional) All the best Kev
