Ride Leader – Cap’n Peal
Weather conditions – Cold, Very Cold
Ground conditions – Frozen and Snowy
Numbers riding – 21
Stay out of the wind, don’t leave the last ride home from a pub too far, entice the mutineers into another mutiny, have a few beers in a warm environment, have a good enough ride to ensure those that hesitated about riding on the night felt good about the fact that they did, oh! and have a few beers.
Left the Legion at 6.45ish, thanks to Vice turning up with a frozen front mech, bad show Viceroy, there is no way you are going to be elected again next year.
A few cold souls decided to head off on their own, only to be quickly re-directed by captain, leading us up through New Row and into the woods.
Arriving at the main track it was onward to the corner where we picked up the singletrack to the top of Ade’s run. Heading down towards the Quarry the boys went, not realising that this was not the Cap’ns plan.
At the Quarry it was a quick about turn and back over Blips Leap and joining up with the main track. Now it was time for The Quarry run, only to the lane this week, as we were soon to be heading back into the woods – Cap’n ignoring the requests for a pint at the Maen.
Back through the car park and onto the main trail, we headed to the top of the quarry run, once again.
Down over the open section we went, over the jumps, and onwards to the left hand singletrack, eventually resulting in a flowing section back towards the Maenllwyd Lane. Up the lane to a 3rd visit to the top of the Quarry run, and it was back over Blips leap, where we then headed left towards the top of Garlic Run.
No Garlic this week, Cap’ns not that sick! Singletrack leading to the gravel track climb, where we then headed back on the main forestry path towards the singletrack taking us back to the top of Ade’s run.
Ade’s run it was to the finish, at Broke Back – not sure who did ride it, but if you did, then a big well done.
Left turn across the river bridge and up the steps to the Forge and Hammer Public House.
Yes I know damn well that Ludlow, Tom and Ryan will be staying there tonight, choosing to ignore all the lovely Curry and Chips that Juliet has laid on tonight.
Yes I know damn well that Gordon (I’m calling you that, and not Scripsy, as you are in my bad books, once again!!!!!) and Daf will probably return some time later in the evening.
Newbury likes to fall through tables at the Legion
The Legion is a great stop off place, but maybe not every week!
Ignoring Crockett is good fun he does drift off to talk to the barmaids.
There is no way I am revealing who the winners of the sports night events are.
Another fun packed night of Miggly Moo’n.
I can declare that the sports night event positions of 29 – 20 are as follows –
See you next Wednesday Mr Ryan and Mr Scripsy, your absences will be enjoyed!
