mobile phone (also known as a cellular phone, cell phone and
a hand phone) is a device that can make and receive telephone
calls over a radio link whilst moving around a wide geographic area.
It does so by connecting to a cellular network provided by a mobile
phone operator, allowing access to the public telephone network.
By contrast, a cordless telephone is used only within the short range
of a single, private base station.” - Wikipedia
handy thing about mobile phones is that they can fit into your
pocket or ‘camelback’ allowing the rider
to keep in contact with the main group if for whatever reason they
get split up. When the said phone is left in the house then it
is as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
As far as the ride went, for the most of us it went like this:
2, Ruperra Fort, Lisvane Woods , a cheeky singletrack near Drop
of Death before a couple of pints in the Meanllwyd. Then descending
via part of Ade’s trail to the
T.A. for lots of curry, chips and rice.
For Budgie and Russ it went like this:
, Garlic 2, back to Garlic, “Anthony…Where
are you? Anthony… answer your bl**dy phone“ And so
on and so on. It would seem that Anthony decided to get himself lost
and in true Bear Grylls style made his way to the Ruperra fort alone.
However he had failed to read Wikipedia before coming out and therefore
left Budgie and Russ searching the woods, getting split up and the
only consultation was instead of finding ‘orrible Ant they
came away with Daf who they found loitering in the forestry.
So next time take your phone with you.
